Eco-Dhabi my arse

Round our place we have separate bins for recyclable rubbish, glass, plastic and aluminium cans, we drink a hell of a lot of soda so that's a big one. When they fill up it's time for a trip to the local recycling bins in... um... where are they?
Despite all the noise Abu Dhabi makes in the press about its plans for a green city, reducing carbon emissions and so on, it appears to be doing sod all about public recycling. The place I used to take our bins has apparently scrapped its program because they discovered that the rubbish they carefully collected was being tipped straight into a landfill [*hear-say, if anyone has real information please let me know].
It makes me wonder about those guys we occasionally see scavenging cans from rubbish bins on the street. Presumably they're able to make a few Dihrams out of that, but where? They must know something we don't. Perhaps the best thing to do is take my bag of cans and hunt down a scavenger to give it to.
