I've been the communications officer for the Exiles MC for two years and in that time I've created a heap of little systems and rules for myself, most of which no-one knows about except that the end result is a useful set of email lists for the club, a total lack of spam and some really good publicity from our website.
Now I'm having to give up the position because it looks like I won't be in Abu Dhabi for the six months after Ramadan. I'm already finding it difficult to let go, writing a detailed manual for my successor so that he can manage the database I've written, the email lists I've set up and the website I built. I designed the front end of these things so that anyone should be able to run them easily but so far I've been the only person updating information and posting news.
I guess I just have to give my systems a big hug and send them off into the real world to fend for themselves.
